On July 9,
2019, a nation-wide seminar on the standards of the evaluation system for green
factories in the yellow phosphorus industry was held successfully in Weng’an,
which is located in Guizhou Province, China. A great number of experts,
academics, and entrepreneurs from various official associations in the yellow
phosphorus industry, such as the CISIA (China Inorganic Salts Industry Association),
the CRAES (Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences) and the Assessment
Center of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, all attended the seminar. Their
purpose was to find the best solution for the green development in the yellow
phosphorus industry by exploring the standards of the evaluation system for
green factories all together.
The seminar
aimed at discussing the standard system for green factories in the yellow
phosphorus industry, so that the concept of green development could be further
promoted in yellow phosphorus enterprises and also be penetrated through the
whole process of their production and operation. In China, it is highly
advocated to produce yellow phosphorus in an environmentally friendly way with
the help of technology so as good effectiveness in saving energy and reducing
costs can be shown.
Weng'an has rich phosphate rock resources
including yellow phosphorus, whose industry plays a significant role in China's
economic development
On the
seminar, the president of the CISIA, Wang Xiaofeng, expressed that yellow
phosphorus, as a resource-based and highly consumed product, has a certain
negative impact on the environment, which has sparked great concerns in the
country. However, the yellow phosphorus industry plays an important and
irreplaceable role in the economic development of China, due to the fact that yellow
phosphorus is widely utilized in different industries, such as agriculture, petrochemical
industry, light industry, textile, electric power, metallurgy, defence
military, building materials, food processing, and electronics. As a basic row
material in China, yellow phosphorus deserves a green development in the
future.
According
to Zhang Wenqiang, the county party secretary of Weng’an, the province is very
rich in mineral resources, with more than 20 types of mine, among which
phosphate rock takes up 360 million tonnes. Therefore, Weng’an is also regarded
as “the storehouse of phosphorus in Asia“. Besides, Weng’an carries different
outstanding titles confirmed by the government, such as the “national high-tech
Industrialization Base of Phosphate Coal Chemical Industry in Southern Guizhou”,
the “provincial demonstration base for international trade in fine chemicals”
and the “national green demonstration park”. Mr Zhang believed that the
seminar is a good opportunity for Weng’an to become the initial promoter for
the green development in the yellow phosphorus industry.
The evaluation system benefits harmonization of
social, economic and environmental effects of yellow phosphorus enterprises
It is
reported that the theme of the seminar is unprecedented in the world. The
evaluation system will be beneficial to the harmonization of social, economic
and environmental effects of yellow phosphorus enterprises. In this way, the
concept of green development can be better executed in these enterprises.
As a matter
of fact, the government of Weng’an and the CISIA already reached a consensus on
strategic cooperation in 2016 in order to strengthen the scientific development
of phosphorus chemical industry. In 2017, both parties held a conference
regarding the development of phosphorus chemical industry in Weng’an. In order
to make some efforts for the green development, an Expert Committee on China’s
phosphorus industry was founded in September, 2017, with 49 professionals and
experts hired as the consultants of the development in the phosphorus industry
in Weng’an.
